PIEDMONT DANCE THEATRE RETURNS TO THE STAGE WITH PERFORMANCES OF THE NUTCRACKER IN MOORESVILLE, KANNAPOLIS, AND SALISBURY
After two years of no live performances due to the Covid pandemic, Charlotte’s Piedmont Dance Theatre is back with three weekends of public performances of the classical ballet, The Nutcracker.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (November 2021) – Charlotte, North Carolina’s Piedmont Dance Theatre will be holding performances of The Nutcracker over the course of the following three weekends this holiday season:
- Mooresville Performing Arts Center
- Sat, Nov. 20 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm
- Sun, Nov. 21 at 2:00pm
- Kannapolis Performing Arts Center
- Fri, Dec. 10 at 7:00pm
- Sat, Dec. 11 at 2:00pm
- Keppel Auditorium at Catawba College featuring the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra
- Sat, Dec. 18 at 6:30pm
- Sun, Dec. 19 at 2:30pm
Piedmont Dance Theatre’s production of The Nutcracker will feature over 90 students from the company’s school, Piedmont School of Music & Dance, as well as eminent dance professionals affiliated with The Juilliard School, American Ballet Theatre, Houston Ballet, Les Grand Ballet de Canadiens, and more.
This will be Piedmont Dance Theatre’s 19th season of The Nutcracker and will be the first time performing for a live audience since 2019. With covid-19 limiting live performance last year, the company produced a full length Nutcracker film in December 2020 that was featured at the world renowned Charlotte Motor Speedway as part of Speedway Christmas.
“It is an absolute joy to know that our students will be performing for our community again,” said Rebecca Wiley, founder and director of Piedmont Dance Theatre, “With all of the twists and turns the last year and a half has presented, our faculty and students have remained resilient and have worked harder than ever. After not having a live audience for over a year, I’m confident this Nutcracker season will be our most magical yet.”
Tickets for each performance will range from $20.00 to $55.00 and are available for purchase at PiedmontDanceTheatre.com.
